Angelina Tops Oprah

Fame. Wealth. Power. Which celeb has it all?
Fame beat out wealth this year with Angelina Jolie topping this year’s Celebrity 100 list, created by Forbes Magazine. Oprah Winfrey lost the title, though she continues to be the list’s top earner with $275 million.
Jolie sure has made the name for herself in the eye of the public. Adopting foreign babies, giving birth to twins, her endless good deeds, and bringing in $27 million in the past year with movies such as Kung Fu Panda, Wanted and the awaited thriller Salt, has made the media buzz. Not only that, she’s married to Brad Pitt, two-time winner of People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, and ranking number nine on this year’s Celeb 100 list.
Bringing up the rest of the top five are musical phenoms Madonna with $110 million, Beyonce Knowles with $87 million and everyone’s favorite golfer, Tiger Woods with $110 million. Out with the old, in with the new. Say good-bye to long time favorites, J.K. Rowling and Johnny Depp. Harry Potter is out the door, making room for the year’s favorite vampires. Stephanie Meyer made the list at number 26 with book series and new movie Twilight. A bright light in our sour economy is Barack Obama, joining the list at number 49, thanks to his book earning of $2.5 million.
With the economic downfall this past year, one would think celebrities would feel a bit of our pain. Not so with the total earnings of this list’s celebrities banking a total of $4.1 billion. What’s with the big bucks? Long-term contracts. But if things don’t improve expect the burn of the economy to catch up next year.
