Julian Schnabel Pink Penthouse for Sale or Rent

When it comes to money, red is the color everyone wants to stay away from. In Julian Schnabel’s case, pink is looking more like red these days. The lack of activity for his much talked about pink Palazzo Chupi penthouse in New York City recently prompted Schnabel to put a Picasso he’s owned for 20 years on the market. Now comes news that the Oscar-nominated director is giving buyers the option to buy or rent the triplex and duplex spaces. The buy option lists the triplex at $22 million and the duplex at $19 million. Combined, both spaces are going for $41 million. Respectively, monthly rent is listed at $50,000 and $40,000.
While there’s been a great amount of gabber about the Greenwich Village’s pink elephant, you have to wonder why people like Richard Gere, Madonna, and Bono passed up the opportunity to dwell in rosé hued palace.
