Tony Goldman Receives Award for Historic Preservation

Haute 100 lister Tony Goldman has been awarded The New York Landmarks Conservancy Chairman’s Award. The prestigious Chairman’s Award is reserved for business leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to the preservation and revitalization of New York City’s historic architecture.
Conservancy President Peg Breen said, “Mr. Goldman was cited for his pioneering work in Soho and lower Manhattan that demonstrated restoring and reusing historic buildings is good business and good for the city. His vision has provided a national example of enlightened development.”
Goldman has worked with the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a Trustee and is currently serving as Trustee Emeritus. His passion for preservation has led to trusteeships with Projects for Public Spaces, the National Trust Community Investment Fund, and The Preservation League of New York State. Goldman is also a charter member of the newly formed Florida Trust.
Goldman Properties, which was founded in 1968, has revitalized historic structures in New York City’s upper West Side, South Beach, Miami’s Wynwood Arts District, Philadelphia’s Center City, and Boston’s Four Point Channel. The company has developed more than 10 restaurants and currently owns the operates the restored Park Central Hotel, The Hotel of South Beach and its restaurant Wish in the Art Deco District, and Joey’s Italian Café in Wynwood.
