Miami’s Don Peebles Makes the Forbes List

Real estate developer Don Peebles has surrounded himself with good company. The Miami-based mogul is a member of the inaugural Forbes list of “Wealthiest Black Americans,” alongside Tiger Woods and Oprah Winfrey. Peebles’ estimated worth is valued at $350 million. As a member of our Haute 100 list of Miami’s Most Influential People, his placement on the Forbes list comes as no surprise. The D.C. native has built a name for himself in South Florida with such properties as The Royal Palm Hotel on South Beach, The Residences at the Bath Club, and The Lincoln. In his hometown, he worked on the conversion of the historic Washington Loan & Trust building into the Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center, and in Las Vegas he is developing 13 acres on Paradise Boulevard into the Las Palmas Hotel & Residences. He is an active member of the Miami community, serving as past chairman of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, and endowing the first permanent scholarship for African American students at FIU’s renowned School of Hospitality Management.
