Kickin’ the Riches While Their Down

Lakshmi Mittal, who at the time of the Haute Living Florida Indian Tycoon issue was the country’s wealthiest individual (and the fourth richest man in the world), is topping a different Forbes list. While his personal fortune may have dropped from $45 billion in 2008 to $19 billion in 2009, he is still counted as the richest soccer owner in the world. The world economic downturn has certainly affected this global pastime; when Forbes ranked the 10 richest soccer team owners in the world last year, their combined net worth was $160 billion. Today the 10 billionaires have a cumulative fortune of less than $90 billion.
